Law Science Curriculum

This course aimed to produce graduate with fully understand in law sciences who have broader and depth knowledge, critical thinking and capacity of logical thinking, constructive, systematic al and innovative, analysis on the existed phenomena like jurist. Scholars will be understand the law enforcement specific for civil law, criminal law, constitutional law, administrative law and the transformation of the existed laws and be able to solve problems critically and professionally based on a sharp and cultural grounded analysis in their daily professions as law practitioners. As we all know that the roots cause of the mis-allocation of resources miss governance at all in the development process of the country. The main core of good governance is that (1), the execution

of the programs should be grounded on the rule of law; accountability; transparency and in a participative manner; (2) the law system which demonstrates the essence of laws are unable to ensure the allocation of resources in a fair and justice manner or creating good governance; (3) enacting law should be based on any theoretical and methodological grounds which may responsible rationally; (4) organization related to enacting and law enforcement is should adequate and (5) most of the positive laws must be enacted based on the cultural root of Timor-Leste society, somehow, may respond to the real needs of Timorese.  

Therefore, with the establishment of the Law Science Faculty, UNPAZ may become role models of learning theories and research that may produce expertise in laws in order to respond to the needs of the national development of Timor-Leste both in national, regional and international levels. The especial task of this program is to prepare experts who are graduated in both theories and practices in law which really grounded in the national cultural values of the country. In addition, these experts also have (1) capabilities to transform those cultural values to become the national positive law; (2) the experts also may have any legal competencies and capabilities to solve problems and to be national policy makers related to the decentralization policies. 

Finally, geopolitically, the geographical location of Timor-Leste may become bridge builder between Australia and other Asia countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam etc.)  In this regard, we should anticipate by preparing our human resources to fill up this gap in the future.
